Safia Muhammadia Welfare Society: A Beacon of Hope for Haripur

Safia Muhammadia Welfare Society (SMWS), established in 2003 in Haripur, Pakistan, is a non-profit organization committed to improving the quality of life for underprivileged communities. Through various impactful programs, SMWS focuses on providing essential services such as education, healthcare, and food assistance to those in need. By empowering individuals and families, Safia Muhammadia Welfare Society continues to bring hope and create a more just and equitable society for all.

Health Initiatives:

One of the society’s most transformative projects is the construction of the SMT Welfare Hospital, designed to provide high-quality medical services at minimal cost. Situated in Haripur city, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (33°57’18.3″N 72°54’59.8″E), this hospital is a lifeline for thousands, especially in an area where healthcare facilities are scarce and few organizations are dedicated to the betterment of local lives. To date, approximately 246,270 families, impacting around 1.2 million people, have received care through this initiative.

In response to the growing needs of the community, SMT Welfare Hospital proudly launched the region’s first fully-equipped Thalassemia Department. This department provides free blood transfusion services and leads awareness campaigns to educate the public about thalassemia, offering a much-needed resource for affected families.

Food Security:

To combat hunger, Safia Muhammadia Welfare Society has rolled out various food relief initiatives:
  • Qurbani Project: Providing meat to those who rarely have access to it.
  • Ramadan Food Project: Delivering food packages to help families sustain themselves during the holy month.
  • Widows Sponsorship Program: Ensuring a steady supply of food and essentials for widowed women and their dependents.
  • Prisoners Food Project: Supporting incarcerated individuals by supplying nutritious meals.

Education for All:​

Safia Muhammadia Welfare Society firmly believes that education is the cornerstone of progress. To support this vision, it has launched initiatives such as:
  • Education Sponsorships: Covering tuition fees for underprivileged students.
  • Books and Uniform Project: Providing essential learning materials to ensure children are school-ready.
  • Support a School Project: Partnering with schools to improve facilities and teaching quality.

These education projects have helped countless students begin their educational journey, empowering them to succeed and secure brighter futures.
