Battling a Lifelong Disease
Thalassemia is a serious genetic blood disorder that requires lifelong treatment. SMWS established the Thalassemia Care and Prevention Center to offer free or subsidized medical care, including regular blood transfusions and medication, to patients suffering from the disease.
Treatment and Prevention Initiatives
Along with providing treatment, the center educates the public on thalassemia prevention through genetic counseling and screening programs, helping to reduce the incidence of the disease in future generations.
